Paying for care & getting started
Clear answers for your next decision.
Understand the differences between private pay, Missouri programs, and veteran benefits before arranging care.
Ask about your options →Does Medicaid pay for home care?+
Missouri MO HealthNet may cover authorized home and community-based services for people who meet the program’s financial and functional requirements. Coverage category, assessment, authorization, and enrolled provider participation all matter. Having Medicaid does not automatically qualify someone for CDS or every home-care service.
What is CDS?+
Consumer Directed Services is a Missouri personal-care program that gives an eligible participant responsibility for selecting and directing a qualified attendant. Read our CDS page for the basic requirements and provider role.
Can my daughter or another family member get paid to care for me?+
Possibly. Certain qualified relatives or friends may serve as a paid CDS attendant after the participant is approved and attendant requirements are met. Only authorized care is payable. Family relationship alone does not establish eligibility or pay.
Can my spouse be my paid CDS caregiver?+
No. Missouri does not permit a spouse to be the paid CDS attendant. Other programs have different rules; do not assume a rule from one program applies to another.
Do I have to be elderly?+
No. Missouri CDS begins at age 18 and has disability, self-direction, Medicaid, and assessment requirements. Other home-care programs have their own age rules. Private-pay support is discussed based on the person’s needs and whether Harmony can meet them.
How quickly can services start?+
It depends on the care needed, staffing, scheduling, and required agreements. Program-funded services also depend on eligibility and authorization. Contact us for a realistic timeline; we do not promise same-day or immediate starts.
How much does private home care cost?+
Request a quote based on your services, schedule, hours, and location. We discuss rates, minimum visits if applicable, and any transportation, holiday, or cancellation terms before you agree to care.
Do you provide 24-hour care?+
Ask us about your full coverage needs. Overnight or 24-hour care must be individually reviewed for staffing and suitability. We confirm whether we can meet your request before accepting a plan; this website does not promise around-the-clock availability.
What is the difference between CDS, In-Home Services, and private pay?+
With CDS, the eligible participant directs the attendant. With Missouri agency-directed In-Home Services, an enrolled agency manages care under state authorization. Private pay is a direct arrangement paid by the client or family. The services and payment rules are not interchangeable.
Can veteran benefits help pay for care?+
Some veterans or survivors may qualify for a VA pension benefit with Aid & Attendance. VA home-care programs are separate and have their own eligibility, authorization, and provider requirements. Harmony’s veteran page explains private-pay options and links to official resources; it does not promise VA coverage.
Do you offer respite for a family caregiver?+
We can discuss private-pay non-medical respite at home, including companionship and agreed daily assistance. Tell us when you need a break and the support needed while you are away. Availability and a care plan must be confirmed.
Is Harmony a medical or hospice provider?+
Harmony provides non-medical home support, not skilled nursing, therapy, or hospice treatment. If a loved one is receiving clinical or hospice care, we can discuss whether our everyday support can fit alongside that care team.
What happens after I submit an inquiry?+
Your inquiry is forwarded to our care team at care@harmony-home-services.com through the site’s form service. We use your contact details to discuss next steps. Please do not send medical records, Social Security numbers, or Medicaid identifiers through this form.
